Vietnamese President To Lam embarked on a four-day state visit to Singapore starting May 28, with the objective of bolstering bilateral cooperation and furthering the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership that was set up between the two nations in 2025.
During his visit, President Lam is scheduled to engage in discussions with Singaporean leaders, including President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. The agenda is expected to include talks on enhancing economic ties, investment opportunities, technology cooperation, and regional collaboration efforts.
A significant moment in President Lam’s visit will be his keynote speech at the Shangri-La Dialogue. This address will be his first major international presentation on Vietnam’s foreign policy since he took office in April 2026.
In addition to political discussions, the visit aims to advance cooperation between the two countries in the fields of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation through the Vietnam-Singapore Tech Connect Initiative. Both nations are also focusing on the next phase of the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIP 2.0). This phase will prioritize smart technologies, sustainability, and green development to attract high-value investments.
This visit highlights the growing strategic and economic partnership between Singapore and Vietnam, as both countries seek to deepen their collaboration across a range of sectors. The emphasis on innovation and sustainable development signals a commitment to mutual growth and prosperity.
