During an informal gathering of ASEAN foreign ministers in Bangkok, Vietnamese Foreign Minister Lê Hoài Trung emphasized Myanmar’s significance as an ASEAN member and expressed Vietnam’s support for initiatives aimed at national reconciliation, economic recovery, and enhanced governance.
Minister Trung advocated for more tangible and impactful actions from ASEAN, suggesting regular dialogue and direct engagement with Myanmar as crucial steps to monitor developments and encourage substantial progress. He highlighted Vietnam’s readiness to collaborate closely with the 2026 ASEAN Chair and other member nations to help Myanmar address social issues, combat transnational crime, and bolster regional cooperation.
