Vietnam’s 16th National Assembly is set to convene its inaugural extraordinary session from August 3 to August 24 in Hanoi. The assembly members will engage in discussions on a comprehensive legislative agenda and deliberate on several significant national projects during this session.
The session’s agenda includes 33 items, notably the enactment of 15 draft laws and four draft resolutions. Additionally, lawmakers will conduct first readings of seven more bills and engage in conversations about seven essential national issues. The proposed legislation spans various sectors, such as petroleum, urban development, anti-money laundering, telecommunications, customs, investment, publishing, and national defense.
Among the critical topics for review are major infrastructure and development initiatives. These include the Hanoi Ring Road No. 5 and adjustments to the Lào Cai–Hà Nội–Hải Phòng railway project. Also on the agenda is the Ninh Thuận nuclear power project, along with the establishment of Quảng Ninh and Bắc Ninh cities.
Furthermore, the session will explore special policy mechanisms that cater to renewable energy, APEC 2027 projects, and digital transformation. These discussions signify Vietnam’s commitment to addressing key areas of national growth and modernization as the country continues to advance on multiple fronts.
